This is a very unique programme exclusively for women students of Chemistry, Chemical Sciences and Agricultural Sciences.
Identifying the necessity to include more women in the chemical industry, Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai’s first private University with more than five decades in the field of education, has joined hands with BASF India Limited, a European multinational company and the largest chemical producer in the world, to start a certification Programme, We-Chemie, Women enabled for careers in Chemistry. We-Chemie is a CSR initiative of BASF India Limited, implemented by Somaiya Vidyavihar University and supported by the Indian Chemical Council, an apex national body dedicated to the growth of the chemical industry.
The objective of this programme is to build a talent pipeline of women in the chemical industry by enhancing their knowledge, skills and attitude through a structured approach. This programme is aimed towards women students from underprivileged backgrounds studying in the final year of BSc and MSc Chemistry, Chemical Sciences or Agricultural Sciences. Additionally few students pursuing Chemical Engineering are also encouraged to participate.
The course curriculum designed by experts, shall equip the selected students in soft skills, technical skills and on sales and marketing of chemical products and prepare them to pursue careers in the Chemical Industry. Every student who completes the programme shall be awarded a certificate, which will add immense value to their resume. Promising students may be considered for internships in the chemical industry.
